Benefits of Installing Entrance Doors with HPL Panel

WiDo Benefits of Installing Entrance Doors with HPL Panel

As a filling of metal-plastic doors, either double-glazed windows, or sandwich panels, or their combinations are used. However, another option is becoming popular — the HPL panel. Doors with filling based on HPL panels appeared relatively recently, but immediately after entering the market they began to be in high demand.

What is an HPL panel, how the doors with HPL filling are arranged and what are the advantages of such a solution - we will tell you in the article!

How HPL panels are arranged

The HPL panel is a multilayer laminated product that is produced using high-pressure molding technology:

  • Organic and polymer sheet materials are used as raw materials.
  • The multilayer panel is molded and glued under a press, exposed to high pressure and heated to activate the polymer adhesive.
  • The result is a sheet of high-density material. This material combines the positive qualities of plastic and laminate based on organic raw materials.

The abbreviation HPL stands for High Press Laminate, that is, high pressure laminate. Thanks to the molding under the press, the porosity of the HPL panel is minimized, and the density increases many times.

For the manufacture of door filling, designs based on HPL panels are used: 1.5 mm for the production of white doors, and 2 mm for the manufacture of decorative (colored and laminated) products. The inner filling layer is represented by XPS Weiss Cosmo expanded polystyrene. This material has two important advantages:

  • Due to the low thermal conductivity of polystyrene foam from WEISS CHEMIE (Germany), the design provides protection against heat loss.
  • The high rigidity of expanded polystyrene provides additional protection against deformations and damage to the filling.

Thus, for door filling based on HPL panels, the following characteristics will be relevant:

  • Thermal conductivity — up to 0.8 W/m2 K
  • Weight — up to 7 kg / m2 (4-5 times lighter than door filling based on double-glazed windows).

Door design options with HPL panels

In the manufacture of entrance group structures, filling based on the HPL panel can be installed in several ways:

  1. Plug-in design. In this case, the HPL panel with a heat-insulating composite is installed in the door sash in place of the double-glazed window. The profile itself will be visible at the same time — therefore, the shade of the panel should be selected in such a way that it coincides with the shade of the lamination of the door profile.
  2. Overhead construction. In the manufacture of such a door, the HPL panel is glued to the profile, completely hiding the sash. At the same time, there is a thermal insulation layer inside, which is responsible for energy saving.

One-sided filling with the external location of the HPL panel allows you to make a door that looks beautiful from the front side of the building (inside it looks like a standard metal-plastic construction). The double-sided overhead mounting of panels provides an ideal appearance of the door both from the facade and from the room.

Important! Lamination from the inside and outside can have different colors! This is another additional opportunity to create a harmonious design.

Advantages: why you should choose the HPL panel

The choice in favor of the entrance group designs with HPL-filling is primarily due to the appearance of the doors. Firstly, the production technology allows you to produce laminated panels with a variety of shades and textures - because the palette of products is almost limitless. The most popular in recent years are models in the colors Anthracite, Basalt, Quartz.

Secondly, doors with HPL filling can be completed with a variety of decorative elements - double—glazed windows, linings, moldings, etc. This allows you to "assemble" the door design according to the principle of the designer, from individual elements. Door manufacturers use configurator programs for this purpose - they are easy to use and clearly demonstrate to the future owner exactly how the door will look.

Pay attention! If the door design provides for a double-glazed window, then two-chamber energy-efficient double-glazed windows with a thickness of 40 mm with a warm remote frame are used. The inclusion of a triplex or tempered glass in the design of a double-glazed window allows you to significantly increase the level of protection against hacking.

In addition to an impeccable appearance and the possibility of choosing a shade and design, doors with HPL panels also have the following advantages:

  • Minimum weight. An HPL panel with an inner layer based on expanded polystyrene is much lighter than a double-glazed window. This not only reduces the load on the hinges and fittings of the door, but also increases the level of comfort: even large door flaps can be opened without effort.
  • Practicality and durability. The HPL panel is not afraid of moisture and does not absorb dirt, because the front layer of the door does not swell over time and is easily cleaned. The use of resistant pigments in the production of lamination prevents the fading of colors under the influence of ultraviolet radiation.
  • Mechanical strength. HPL panels with a thickness of 2 mm, which are used in the production of decorative structures, have increased vandal-proof characteristics. Due to this, the door is difficult to scratch or damage in any other way. In addition, the rigid front panel resists hacking attempts — therefore, the level of security (when the structure is equipped with a reliable lock and anti-burglar elements) will be quite high.

Perhaps the only significant disadvantage of doors with filling based on HPL panels is the price. But given the impeccable appearance of the products, their excellent thermal insulation characteristics, strength and durability, the purchase of a more expensive, but very high-quality door should be considered as a long-term investment. And spending on the purchase of such a design will be fully justified.

How to properly clean plastic window sills from dirt
The window sill very often serves us as another surface for storing things or for installing pots with flowers. Therefore, it gets dirty quite often too. The good news is that PVC, of which the window sill board consists, is unpretentious in care. And the main rule of window sill cleaning is that the sooner you remove the contamination, the easier it will be to do it.

In what cases modern windows sweat
This question is most often asked by the happy owners of brand-new metal-plastic windows. In wooden structures, "tears" on the glasses appear much less often. With the recent replacement of old structures with PVC, the owners begin to notice moisture on the windows, although it would seem that nothing in the room has changed. Where does the water come from?

Which window sill is better: glossy or matte
The question of whether to choose a glossy or matte window sill for installation in a room often arises. Both glossy and matte models are available on the market — and besides them there are also window sills with intermediate texture options. The differences between them are significant: such window sills look different in the interior, and accumulate pollution in different ways. Therefore, when choosing, you need to take into account not only the appearance of the structure, but also the conditions under which the plastic window sill will be operated, and whether you will be able to provide regular surface care.
