Preparation for installation of metal-plastic windows

WiDo Preparation for installation of metal-plastic windows

So, the windows are completed and ordered — and you know exactly the date of installation. What should be done to make this process as painless as possible?

Of course, the main concerns about the organization of the installation of a plastic window lie on the shoulders of a team of craftsmen. But the owner of the premises can also take measures to minimize damage — especially if windows have to be installed in a residential area.

Free space

The dimensions of a metal—plastic window can be rather big - especially when it comes to balcony glazing. In addition, the masters also need free space. So the more space you can free up, the better:

  • First, we take out all the small furniture from the room. Tables, chairs, curbstones can be temporarily placed in another room.
  • If you can't take out the furniture, we move it as far as possible from the window opening. This primarily concerns massive wardrobes and sofas.
  • Along the route that will be used to bring the window into the room, we also remove furniture. The freer the passage is, the less likely it is that the masters will damage something, or the window itself will suffer.

Another important factor is the power supply. The masters will need access to an outlet or other source of electricity. In a residential building or apartment, this is not a problem, but a generator or other alternative solution will be required on an object under construction.

Less dust and debris

The installation of a metal-plastic window, and especially the dismantling of the old structure, are associated with the appearance of large volumes of dust and construction waste. Not only that, after the completion of the work, cleaning will have to be carried out — dust can cause serious damage.

To avoid this:

  • We take electronics and household appliances out of the room. This is necessary to prevent dust from getting on the contacts. Even a small amount of dust can cause a short circuit or lead to overheating of the equipment.
  • We remove all textiles — first of all curtains and tulle. The reason is obvious: textiles are located in the area of installation work, and will not only interfere with the craftsmen, but will also collect most of the dust. It will be much more difficult to wash the curtains in this case.
  • If the design of the cornice will interfere with the work, we will also dismantle the cornice. But usually the guide for curtains is placed above the window, because it does not interfere with the masters.
  • Carpets and carpets are also taken out of the room. Firstly, they will inevitably leave traces of the masters. Secondly, the pile will collect all the construction dust from the air, and it will be almost impossible to clean the carpet to a normal state.

Everything that cannot be taken out is tightly closed with plastic wrap. It will not be possible to completely avoid dust getting under the film, then the more carefully you close the furniture or stationary equipment, the less damage will be.

Sometimes the floor covering also requires protection — especially if parquet, laminate or carpet is laid in the room. Cover the floor with nonwoven fabric or dense polyethylene, fix it with tape at the corners — most of the garbage will remain on top.

Another important aspect. During installation, there is a possibility of falling fragments of concrete, brick or plaster outside. To avoid unpleasant consequences, fence off the place under the window — so passers-by will be protected from possible injuries. If there are cars parked under the windows, contact their owners and ask them to temporarily move the car to another place.

Important! Some companies take out the garbage and frames themselves after installing a plastic window. If the installation team does not provide such a service, think in advance about what you will do with waste, and stock up on dense garbage bags. In addition, plan the removal of old frames: according to current legislation, it is impossible to simply throw such structures into the trash can. So it's worth looking for a container for bulky waste.

Plants, animals and children

Noise and vibration are unavoidable during the operation of equipment that is used during the installation of plastic windows. Therefore:

  • Take care of small children by moving them to another room. Firstly, the noise can scare the child, and secondly - there is a chance to get a cold due to the fact that the window opening will be open for some time.
  • Dogs and cats are also afraid of loud noises. If you know that your pet reacts sharply to noise — take care of it. Sometimes the next room is enough, but in some cases the animal will have to be transported for a while.
  • Plants are not afraid of noise, but may suffer during installation. So we remove the potted flowers from the windowsill and take them out of the room. Large plants can be covered with polyethylene and moved away from the installation site of the window.

Temperature comfort

A separate article in our blog is devoted to installation in the cold season. Therefore, here we focus only on some aspects.

During the installation of a metal-plastic window, the opening remains open from 15 minutes to half an hour. If it's freezing outside, cold air can cause damage. Therefore, it is necessary to protect from the cold:

  • Indoor plants
  • Pets (including in cages).
  • Aquariums
  • Household appliances and electronics

The algorithm is extremely simple. If it can be taken out of the room, we take it out. If it is impossible (for example, you have an aquarium with 100 liters or a plasma panel hanging on the wall) — cover with a blanket. Such precautions will allow you to avoid serious damage even in fairly severe frosts.

Installation of plastic windows is associated with stress for the owner of the premises. But if you think about everything in advance and prepare for installation, following the recommendations from this article, then the nerves will remain intact, and the damage will be minimal. And cleaning after installing windows will take much less time.

Plastic doors are quite easy to care for and maintain — this is one of their advantages. With the correct selection of components and compliance with the installation technology, such a door serves for a long time, and easily opens during the entire service life. In order for the mechanism to work without effort and extraneous sounds, it is enough not to expose it to extreme loads and periodically maintain it (cleaning lubrication).
