How long does it take to make a plastic window?

WiDo How long does it take to make a plastic window?

Sometimes, for the customer, the production time of a metal-plastic structure becomes critically important. Usually the window is ordered in advance — and therefore two or three weeks "do not make the weather." But there are other situations in which windows are needed as early as possible — and that's when the deadline becomes a critical factor.

Let's try to figure out when it is really possible to make a window, and when an unscrupulous manufacturer only promises you to be in time for the appointed date. Alas, this also happens: impossible promises are made in the struggle for the client, and then they throw up their hands — although the window could not even theoretically be made so quickly.

Minimum, but real term

It should be borne in mind right away — window manufacturers strive to minimize the time of manufacturing structures, because this becomes their important competitive advantage. The faster a company can make a window, the more profitable it is for itself.

But still there is a border that is very difficult to break, if not impossible. As a minimum real term, you can take 5-7 days, and that's why:

  • The first problem is the manufacture of double—glazed windows. The assembly process itself does not take much time, but everything rests on the polymerization of sealants. If the technology is followed, it takes up to 4 days, and it is impossible to speed up the process — the tightness will decrease, which will lead to a reduction in the service life of the double-glazed window.
  • Production of the frame and sash — several hours in the presence of all components and blanks. If the technological process is debugged, then less than an hour will pass from the receipt of the profile to the cutting area to the glazing of the product (with a finished double-glazed window).
  • Organizational time costs also need to be taken into account. Order processing, its transfer to production, preparation of components, packaging of the finished structure and assembly of additional elements (handle, window sill, low tide, connecting and expansion profiles) also take time.
  • Finally, delivery. The finished plastic window must be delivered from the production site to the installation site. Usually delivery takes 1-2 days, therefore it is advisable to choose a manufacturer according to the geographical principle only in rare cases.

Pay attention! 5-7 days is the calculation of time for ideal conditions when a window manufacturing company focuses entirely on the manufacture of a single structure. In reality, the production of windows is a continuous conveyor, so the timing needs to be increased.

Can it be faster?

It is almost impossible to make the window faster — but sometimes there is a possibility of solving the problem in another way. Such a solution is the purchase of a window. It is possible if:

  • The window is needed for a standard window opening.
  • The manufacturing company has a stock of "standard" windows.
  • There is no need to change the configuration of the structure.

In this case, the window can be received in 1-2 days — that's how long it will take to deliver it. But in practice, this opportunity is rarely used.

Custom windows

There is a category of products for which the above time calculation will be incorrect. These are non—standard windows: arched, triangular, trapezoidal, very large, etc. Here you need to take into account:

  • Lamination (especially non-standard) requires special attention, because the production of laminated windows will take longer.
  • Blanks for the manufacture of non—rectangular windows are adjusted in shape and size as accurately as possible - it is impossible to automate this process. Therefore, it will take longer to make a triangular or trapezoidal window than a rectangular one.
  • Arches contain a bent part — and it is its production that takes quite a lot of time. Profile bending is performed rather slowly, under the supervision of an experienced specialist — and any interference in the process in order to speed it up can lead to marriage.

The conclusion is obvious — non-standard products will be made longer than standard rectangular windows. It will not be possible to speed up the process due to the large proportion of manual labor.

When is it faster — in winter or in summer?

The seasonality of demand for PVC structures is a factor that must be taken into account:

  • In autumn (when people are insulated before the start of the heating season) and in spring, the demand for metal-plastic windows increases. The production works with maximum load, the installation teams are also not idle — therefore there is a possibility that the window will be made longer. In addition, there will be no one to mount a ready—made window - and you will have to wait for the team to be released.
  • In winter, out of season, the load on production is reduced. Therefore, there is a possibility that the production period will be minimized, and the finished product will fall into the hands of installation masters immediately after delivery.

Big and small manufacturers

There is a stereotype among buyers of PVC windows that a large company is a conveyor, and in a small workshop the ordered window will begin to be made immediately after receiving the order, and therefore they can do it faster. In practice, this stereotype does not work:

  • The probability that the order will be taken into work immediately is extremely small. If the company does not have a constant flow of orders, then the workshop operates in the "off-load" mode, and work begins only after a certain number of designs have accumulated.
  • A single order — especially urgent or non—standard - will simply be transferred to a large company in the same region for production. There will be no gain in time here — on the contrary, there is a chance of losing 1-2 days on the shipment of the design between enterprises.
  • Inventory is also an important factor. A small company cannot afford to maintain a large warehouse. Therefore, any deviation from the standard in the configuration of the design is plus a few days to the production date, which are needed to order components.

The production time of a plastic window depends on a number of factors. Companies that care about their reputation, do not make impossible promises, and initially give the customer real deadlines. Therefore, it is important to assess the feasibility of the task — and plan the replacement of windows in advance, putting time into the work schedule for the manufacture of structures.
