High-quality plastic windows: choose the place of purchase

WiDo High-quality plastic windows: choose the place of purchase

When planning to buy plastic windows for a new building or replace old wooden windows with metal-plastic structures, many are experiencing difficulties. The question of where to buy metal—plastic windows — inexpensively, with a quality guarantee and with minimal risk of fraud - does not have an unambiguous answer.

In fact, there are not so many options for buying:

  1. Branded salons of large companies
  2. Small points of sale
  3. Online stores (usually they are "tied" to one of the first two items).
  4. Portable points of sale of windows at bus stops or markets

Which of these options to choose, and whether it is worth accepting offers with fantastically low prices — we will figure out in the article.

Order from a trusted seller

It is optimal if you order windows in the corporate salon of a large company or in a small retail outlet with a good reputation. This also applies to online orders - if a couple of years ago such points of sale could not have representative offices on the Internet, then in recent years the presence of at least a page on social networks, or even a full—fledged website, has become a matter of business survival.

Why is this the case:

  • Firstly, a stationary salon or point of sale is a kind of guarantee. You can be sure that it will be possible to return to the same company to order several more windows, and to eliminate the problems that have arisen under warranty. And the company will be located in the same place.
  • Secondly, an authorized point of sale or a branded salon almost always performs the function of a showroom. A detailed description of the characteristics of the window and detailed photos are good. But if there is an opportunity to study the real design and test its functions in practice, then it is worth taking advantage of this opportunity.
  • Finally, specialists. Managers with high qualifications and sufficient knowledge usually work in branded salons and authorized points of sale. Of course, you can independently study the criteria by which plastic windows are chosen (including articles from this blog). But the manager, as a rule, knows the specifics of a particular configuration best of all — and therefore will help make an informed choice.

The conclusion of the contract is another argument in favor of buying windows from a trusted dealer at a stationary point of sale. A document with a fixed configuration, production dates and the cost of a metal-plastic window will have evidentiary force in resolving any disputed issues. In addition, the contract prescribes warranty conditions — and the company itself is interested in fulfilling them:

  • Working for the long term (which is how a stationary point of sale works) involves building a reputation. The better the reputation is, and the fewer complaints against the company, the more appeals to the salon will be based on recommendations and reviews from satisfied customers.
  • On the other hand, the company that produces windows carefully controls the work of authorized points of sale. Thus, not only you will be interested in the fulfillment of contractual obligations by the supplier, but also a large manufacturer of PVC structures.

Why not order cheap windows from unverified sellers

The idea of ordering windows on a folding table or by calling on the phone from an ad on a pole usually has exactly one basis — savings. And indeed, such sellers attract buyers primarily with a low price — about 10-15% below the market.

But you need to consider this:

  • Firstly, unlike the salon, you will have a minimal set of samples at your disposal. Most often, 3-4 "corners" and several demonstration double-glazed windows are available. You will have to choose a window almost at random — focusing on the photos in the booklets and the stories of the company representative.
  • With the stories of the representative of the company, too, not everything is smooth. As a rule, the qualification of sellers at such mobile retail outlets is very low. It is unlikely that you will be able to count on professional advice, and you should doubt the truthfulness of the seller's words.

But this is half the trouble — in the end, you can spend time, study specialized sites and choose the optimal configuration of the window down to the smallest detail. The main risks relate to working with an unverified supplier:

  • First. Prepayment (and it is mandatory) you contribute to almost strangers. Already at this stage, there is a risk that tomorrow the seller's phone will stop answering, and the table with samples will not appear at this stop for a couple of months.
  • Second. Such companies either do not formalize the contract in principle, or they formalize it purely formally — and it will not have legal force. As a result, the company will not bear any guarantees on the timing and configuration of the window. All risks are only on you.
  • The third. Deadlines are a standard problem for such small suppliers. They do not have their own production, because they order windows from the same manufacturers as large authorized dealers. Out of season (for example, in winter) this will not be a problem, but when windows are ordered en masse (in autumn or spring), such orders will be carried out on a residual basis. An unscrupulous supplier will be satisfied with this — he has received a deposit, you are guaranteed to pay the second part of the amount, and he does not need to take care of his reputation.
  • Finally, the complete set. Components are usually prescribed in the contract. There is no contract — there is no guarantee that you will be sold exactly the window that you have chosen. In the end, it is almost impossible to check the number of cameras in the profile or the presence of an energy—saving layer on the glass on your own - so you have to trust the seller.

And so we smoothly approach the main problem — the search for a responsible person. If everything is simple with a proven company, then it will be almost impossible to find an unscrupulous seller in the second case. And even if you find it — without a legally correct contract, it will be very difficult to force it to replace the structure, eliminate installation defects or adjust the window.

The conclusion is pretty obvious. It is worth ordering metal—plastic structures only at verified authorized points of sale - this will be the best guarantee of quality. And buying windows at a mobile point of sale can, and will save money (although unlikely), but will provoke a large number of other problems.
